2007/2008 season review

What a start of a season that was and what an ending of it!

The start was so good I stopped writing into the blog in order to not jinx it and the ending so bad it was so difficult to get over it and publish my thoughts.

Before the start of the season, I did not have the smallest hope we would make anythning of the season. Thierry left after what was an abysmal 2006/2007 season.

The first game was a bit bizzare, home to Fulham and we were leaded thanks to a Lehman mistake and in the last few minutes we turned things around and won 2-1. But from there we almost never looked back, playing, scoring goals, winning games and winning with style. Bacary Sagna turned out to be a beast of a right back for us while Clichy was playing superbly along his side of the field. Flamini came as a revelation in a genuine midfield with Cesc scoring goal after goal after goal after goal, did I mention that Cesc was scoring many goals? Adebayor stepped up on the forward line to score a career high. We were promised a very delicious season with the young guns also dominating in the carling cup. Beating the spurs at the Lane with fantastic goals from Cesc and Ade after being one down at half time, breaking our longest overall unbeaten run, man, were we having fun.

Then something happened.
A c*nt name Taylor made something happen.
It was in Birmingham where something really happened.
I thought I got over it but I am feeling emotional right now. We lost something that afternoon. Needless to go all over that game but we lost a clinical finisher, we lost two points, we lost some confidence and we lost some grits and some team unity. After that we were never the same. Lady luck also said goodbye and we scrumbled like a beach castle. The game was over, our season was over. Plenty of joy and plenty of disappointment. The most joyful moment has to be the Sanciro win over AC Milan, and the worst has to be somewhere between losing to tothenam on the Carling semi, or the loss against liverpool on CL quarter and losing the game and Sagna to Chelsea in the league. I would go with the CL exit at anfield.
